Biophilic design is the practice of incorporating natural elements into the built environment to promote human health and well-being. Biophilia is based on the idea that we have evolved alongside the natural world and that our well-being is tied to our interactions with it.
Our design aim is to inspire and educate the benefits of green infrustucture and bringing to life public areas. We provide designs and information that can be easily viewed and understood. Our workflow follows our simple methodology.
Why are we doing this and what is the emotive response that is desired
Bring the vision to life.
Execute the design requirements.
Concept Design combines creative thinking and an understanding of construction methodology to interpret the project brief. Our interdisciplinary design team works with our clients to refine the concepts into a realistic concept design.
From experience we’ve found that 3D imagery and fly throughs provide all stakeholders with a greater understanding of the proposed build. For our clients going back into community and stakeholder workshops these visualisations are easier to interpret and gain more relevant feedback than technical drawings.
We design around the Universal design approach principles.
The design is useful and marketable to people with diverse abilities.
The design accommodates a wide range of individual preferences and abilities.
The use of the design is easy to understand, regardless of the user's experience, knowledge, language skills, or current concentration level.
The design communicates necessary information effectively to the user, regardless of ambient conditions or the user's sensory abilities.
The design minimises hazards and the adverse consequences of accidental or unintended actions.
The design can be used efficiently and comfortably and with a minimum of fatigue.
Appropriate size and space is provided for approach, reach, manipulation, and use regardless of user's body size, posture, or mobility.
The design respects and reinforces cultural values, and the social and environmental contexts of the design project.
The signed off Concept Design moves into the construction design phase. Our partnering engineering team (Van Holland) converts our design drawings into technical and construction drawings. These enable all factors of the project to be delivered. They also outline any potential issues before build from survey work and consultation with different trade.
We also have Engineering Certification capability as well as All Access reviews examining minimum standards such as Design for Access and Mobility (DDA AS1428 Suite), ISO 21542 Building Construction and usability of the Built Environment, The Urban Design Guidelines (Victorian Government) and Open Space Landscape Infrastructure Manual (Sunshine Coast)
